About the WebP to JPG Converter
WebP is everywhere on the modern web because it makes small files, but it still trips up plenty of software: older photo editors, some print services, various document tools and a fair few applications will not take a WebP and want a JPG instead. This converts by decoding the WebP in the browser and re-encoding it as a JPG.
Two settings are exposed. Quality is the JPG quality slider, at 90 percent by default. And because WebP can be transparent while JPG cannot, a background colour picker sets what fills any transparent areas — white unless you choose otherwise. If your WebP is a plain photograph with no transparency, the background setting simply never comes into play.

How It Works
WebP decoding uses the browser's native support, which is universal on current browsers, so this is reliable in a way the HEIC conversion is not. The decoded pixels are flattened onto the chosen background and encoded as JPG at your quality setting.
The conversion is a re-encoding from one lossy format to another, and that has a consequence worth understanding. A WebP saved with lossy compression has already discarded some detail; encoding it again as JPG discards a little more, because the two formats compress differently and neither is a perfect fit for the other. At 90 percent this second loss is hard to see, but converting back and forth repeatedly between lossy formats will visibly degrade an image over several rounds. Convert once, from the best source you have, rather than round-tripping.
As with any move to JPG, transparency cannot survive — a transparent WebP has those areas filled with the background colour. If keeping transparency matters, WebP to PNG is the conversion you want instead, since PNG has an alpha channel and JPG does not.

A journalist has been sent photographs as WebP by a source, and the newsroom's publishing system only ingests JPG. Converting lets the images run with the story. The photographs came from a source who expects discretion, so converting them on the reporter's own machine rather than through an online tool keeps material tied to a confidential source off any third-party server.
An online seller saves product photos from a supplier's site that serves WebP, and the sales platform requires JPG for listings. Converting the batch produces upload-ready images.
